Ranger Underground Autogate Installed in 2006. Now Having Problems …

An old customer called about an underground autogate they had installed by us in 2006. Now they are having problems with their Ranger’s center lock and broken rubber stopper. Back then, their car porch was made of concrete cement floor. The underground autogate is functioning properly without any issues.

But they renovated their house, and now the car porch is covered with pavement bricks. I recall advising them not to use pavement bricks for the renovation. It seems they may have proceeded with using bricks neglect the recommendation.

Autogate Lock Problems With Interlocking Pavement Bricks

Another big issue is that you cannot install a water filter or autogate stopper on pavement bricks. This is because the anchor wall plugs used for installation will not be securely tightened. The nature of pavement bricks does not provide a stable surface for securing these types of fixtures properly. It is important to consider carefully if you want to use pavement bricks.

The same issue applies to pillars made with bricks. We strongly advise against using bricks for constructing pillars because they present similar challenges. Bricks do not provide a secure and stable surface for installing the anchor wall plugs for the autogate arm brackets. It is recommended to use FULL CONCRETE pillars to ensure the proper installation and functionality of these components.

More Problems With Pavement Bricks

Here are more pavement brick problems. If the pavement bricks are not installed correctly, some problems can occur. The bricks may become uneven and start to tilt. This happens when the sand between the bricks is not swept in properly and the bricks are not pressed down firmly into the ground. Another issue is when water collects on the bricks, forming puddles. This could mean that the ground underneath was not sloped correctly or that it was not packed down enough, causing it to sink over time. Uneven bricks of different heights usually happen when the ground underneath is not dug deep enough or is not level. If the soil in the area is clay, it holds more water than sandy soil, which can make the problem worse.

Underground Autogate Lock and Rubber Stopper Replacement

The underground center lock of the autogate is experiencing problems, including a non-functioning solenoid coil, the failure of the underground drop bolt to engage and lock the gate, and a worn-out auto gate rubber stopper. To resolve these issues, we need to replace the solenoid coil in the center lock and also replace the worn-out rubber stopper.

Now the problem is that the pavement bricks are not strong enough to support the installation of anchor wall plugs. So what can we do? To install the rubber stopper securely, one option is to remove some of the pavement bricks, put steel bars in the ground, and make a concrete base. But this solution can be quite expensive, including the cost of the center lock, rubber stopper, and the construction work. Due to the high cost involved, it may not be the best recommendation.
