Swing Autogate Damaged After Being Hit by a Vehicle

One of our autogate service jobs last Monday involved a long-time customer, Mr Nathan, whose properties have been under our care for many years. We first installed an autogate system for Mr Nathan back in 2019. Since then, he has continued to engage us for autogate installations, repairs, and maintenance across several of his rental properties. His own residence is also equipped with a folding arm autogate system installed by EE Automation.

Recently, Mr Nathan contacted us regarding one of his rental houses in Shah Alam. The right-side swing arm autogate was no longer functioning, and he wanted us to inspect the problem.

As part of our normal procedure, we requested photos of the autogate before arranging a site visit. This helps us identify the autogate model and assess the possible cause of the issue before arriving.
After reviewing the photos, we noticed that the bracket on the damaged arm appeared bent. We asked Mr Nathan whether the gate had been accidentally hit by a vehicle.

After checking with the tenant, he discovered that the gate arm had indeed been hit a few days earlier. Initially, the autogate continued operating despite making unusual noises. However, the condition gradually worsened until the arm stopped working completely.

The tenant had not informed the owner immediately, but the damage became obvious once we inspected the photographs. This is one of the reasons why we always ask customers to send photos before our technicians visit. In many cases, visible signs of damage can help us prepare the correct spare parts and provide a more accurate recommendation.

We informed Mr Nathan that if the arm motor was confirmed faulty during inspection, we would replace the damaged unit. Since the original FBM autogate model was no longer in production, we recommended upgrading the damaged side to a Tronica® 929 Arm Autogate, a heavy-duty and reliable swing arm system widely used for replacement projects. After receiving the quotation, Mr Nathan agreed to proceed with the replacement.
